Driver stats are a representation of shots taken in par 4s and par 5s off the tee. Whether you hit driver or something less, the shot statistics will be included in:

  • Driving Distance

  • Fairways Hit (%)

  • Strokes Gained (Drives)

  • Strokes Gained Drives (Par 4) or Strokes Gained Drives (Par 5)

  • Drives (Per Shot)

Here we have an example of a male amateur player with two different scenarios for a 300 yard, par 4. The first scenario is to hit driver (260 yards) and leave a 40 yard chip; the second scenario is to hit 5 iron (170 yards) and leave a 9 iron (/130 yard shot) in.

Using Driver

If the player took driver (260 yards), the strokes gained for the shot would be (based on where the shot landed):

  • +0.33 (fairway)

  • +0.20 (rough)

  • +0.12 (sand)

The strokes gained would be counted for Drives and Drives: Par 4. The 260 yard distance would be calculated as part of the driver distance. The fairway make or miss would be counted toward the fairway %.

Laying Up

If the player took 5 iron (170 yards), the strokes gained for the shot would be (based on where the shot landed):

  • -0.07 (fairway)

  • -0.21 (rough)

  • -0.47 (sand)

The strokes gained would be counted for Drives and Drives: Par 4. The 170 yard distance would be calculated as part of the Driving Distance. The fairway make or miss would be counted toward the Fairways Hit (%) stats.
