The suggested line is more about where to end up, not about where to start. So if it’s a tree-lined dog leg, showing you the value of getting more around the corner, even if you can’t take that exact line. The course strategy does take the course into account and looks at the hazards surrounding the dispersion zone to make the suggestion.

In golf, distance is typically rewarded (particularly from a Strokes Gained perspective), so typically, your strategy will suggest the longer target line. However, it won’t take into account your shot shape, e.g. if you have a hole that commands a draw, but you have a fade, it will be important to take that into account off the tee.
